    A project manager with the help of the team identified all activities required in the project and is now sequencing them. Activity 1 can start immediately and its duration is of 1 week. Activity 2 can start after activity 1 is completed and takes 4 weeks. Activity 3 can start after activity 2 is completed and takes 5 weeks. Activity 4 can start after activity 1 is completed and takes 8 weeks. Both activities 3 and 4 must be completed before the end of the project. Due to some concerns, change request raised and got approved which changes duration of activity 4 to 10 weeks. What is the duration of the critical path now?

    a. 10
    b. 11
    c. 14
    d. 8

    Correct answer is B.

    This network diagram has two paths:
    Path 1 : Start, 1, 2, 3, End
    Path 2 : Start, 1, 4, End

    Before change:
    Path 1 length : 10 weeks
    Path 2 length : 9 weeks
    Therefore, critical path is Path 1.

    After change:
    Path 1 : 10 weeks
    Path 2 : 11 weeks
    Therefore, now critical path is Path 2 whose duration is 11 weeks.
