You have recently joined an organization which has recently adopted Agile to execute projects. Senior Management is complaining that Team A is not performing efficiently as compared to Team B because their velocity is regularly lower than that of Team B. What would you do in such situation?

    a. Ask Team A to improve their velocity in the upcoming iterations
    b. Introduce reward structure which may increase motivation of Team A
    c. Move some members of Team B to Team A
    d. Inform Senior Management that velocity cannot be used as comparison metric between different teams

    Correct answer is D.

Individual teams decide the size of story points based upon their own estimations, which cannot be compared across teams. Since velocity is the number of story points completed during an iteration, therefore, velocity too cannot be compared between two different teams.
